About this role
Upstream Rehabilitation's Journey program offers physical therapists a structured way to work across different locations without the instability typical of travel therapy agencies. You'd maintain full-time employment with one organization while rotating through assignments—typically 13 weeks, with flexibility for 6- or 12-month placements—across their network of 1,200+ outpatient clinics in 28 states. The salary range of $120,000–$145,000 includes a non-taxed housing stipend, travel reimbursement, assignment bonuses, and productivity incentives, alongside standard benefits like medical, dental, 401(k) matching, and paid relocation days between assignments.
The role centers on delivering evidence-based orthopedic care in outpatient settings: developing personalized treatment plans, collaborating with local clinical teams, and building patient outcomes. What distinguishes this from independent travel work is continuity—you'll use the same EMR system across all Upstream clinics, maintain uninterrupted insurance coverage even during time off, and have access to structured onboarding and mentorship at each new location. You can transition to a permanent clinic when ready or continue traveling indefinitely.
You'll need an accredited PT degree and an active or pending license in your assignment state. This role suits clinicians who want geographic flexibility and new experiences without sacrificing employment stability, benefits, or the friction of relearning systems at each stop.
