About this role
Urschel Laboratories is offering a hands-on summer internship in materials and manufacturing engineering at their Indiana headquarters, where you'd work directly with their engineering team on real manufacturing challenges. The role centers on learning their systems and processes, supporting failure analysis and materials evaluations, and contributing to continuous improvement projects across their climate-controlled facility that produces industrial cutting equipment for food processing. You'd document findings, prepare reports, and provide technical support while gaining exposure to how advanced manufacturing operates at a global scale.
The internship suits undergraduates entering their junior or senior year in engineering disciplines—particularly materials, manufacturing, or process engineering—with at least a 2.8 GPA and U.S. work authorization. CAD experience, especially SolidWorks, is valued but not required; you'll need solid proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong organizational and communication skills to work both independently and within a team. The position pays $24 per hour with flexible scheduling to accommodate your academic calendar, direct supervision from the Manufacturing Manager, and the option to earn academic credit through your university. Urschel will also provide a letter of recommendation upon completion.
