About this role

Urschel Laboratories is looking for an Industrial Engineering Intern to spend summer 2027 embedded in the operations and manufacturing teams at their Chesterton headquarters. You'd work on real process improvement and efficiency projects—analyzing production data to spot bottlenecks and quality issues, developing work instructions, and helping validate solutions that actually get implemented. The company manufactures precision cutting equipment for food processing, so the work directly supports a global operation with meaningful scale.

The role suits someone entering their junior or senior year in an engineering program (Industrial or Mechanical preferred) who's comfortable with independent work but also collaborative problem-solving. You'll need solid Excel and data skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings clearly. The internship offers flexibility around your academic schedule and includes direct mentorship from the Production Manager, plus a letter of recommendation and potential academic credit if your university approves it.
