About this role

Thorne's Operations Engineering Manager role centers on leading a technical team through the complexities of regulated pharmaceutical and supplement manufacturing. You'd spend significant time on the production floor attending stand-ups, troubleshooting urgent issues, and driving data-informed corrective actions that address both immediate problems and chronic inefficiencies. The position bridges hands-on engineering work with team leadership, requiring you to mentor technicians and engineers while collaborating across departments on equipment qualifications, process improvements, and compliance documentation.

This role demands substantial experience in regulated manufacturing environments—at least 15 years in pharmaceutical or dietary supplement production, with 5+ years in management and 3+ years in FDA-regulated settings. You'll need a BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering and working proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Beyond technical depth across mixing, encapsulation, bottling, and labeling systems, you must be comfortable writing detailed procedures, leading cross-functional teams through PFMEAs, and managing resource allocation on complex projects.

The position suits someone who thrives in structured, compliance-heavy environments and finds satisfaction in both solving immediate technical problems and building sustainable improvements. If you have the engineering credentials, regulated industry background, and genuine interest in developing junior talent while driving operational excellence, this in-office role in Summerville offers competitive benefits including fully company-paid health insurance, 401k matching, and professional development support.
