At Picnic, we’ve reinvented grocery delivery, and our People team is doing the exact same thing for how teams grow, scale, and thrive! As a People Partner - Tech, you aren't an advisor sitting on the sidelines. You're embedded right where the action happens. Partnering directly with ~75 Picnic-ers in our Tech domain, including Software Engineers, Product Owners, and Data Engineers, across our central hubs in Amsterdam, Paris, and Düsseldorf, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of your team’s organizational strategy, from talent development and high-performance coaching to scaling tech team structures.

Tricks of the trade

  • Performance management: Drive performance and talent across your tech domain by conducting regular check-ins, bi-annual reviews, and performance calibrations with employees.
  • People management: Be a trusted advisor and coach to the tech leadership team, playing a critical role in enhancing leadership effectiveness.
  • Staffing & Talent: Manage tech talent dynamically to ensure the right engineers and product leaders are in the right roles at every stage of growth.
  • Project management: Drive impactful people-related initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights to guide decision-making and deliver proactive solutions.
  • Continuous improvement: Design, challenge, and continuously refine core tech people programs, including staffing, onboarding, learning & development, and rotation processes.
  • Stakeholder management: Partner closely with tech business leaders to cultivate and enable a strong, effective leadership pipeline.
  • Documentation & Ops: Maintain operational rigor by handling all administrative-related tasks around development agreements, contracts, and compensation structures.

Your superpowers

  • Master's degree in HR, Psychology, Business, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR Advisor, HR Business Partner, or similar role in a fast-paced environment (experience partnering with tech/engineering teams is a strong plus).
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional tech stakeholders across multiple levels.
  • Proven project management and operations experience.
  • Driven to challenge convention, ask "How can we do this better?", and reinvent how work is done.
  • A natural ability to coach, support, and develop technical teams and leaders.
  • Ability to see the big picture while applying a clear, data-driven approach to complex people problems.
  • Fluency in English (Dutch, French, or German is a plus!).

About this role

Picnic is looking for a People Partner to support its rapidly growing Tech domain—approximately 75 engineers, product owners, and data specialists across its Amsterdam headquarters. You'll own the full employee lifecycle for this group: conducting performance reviews and development conversations, managing staffing and rotations, designing onboarding and learning programs, and serving as a trusted advisor to tech leadership. The role requires you to understand Picnic's business deeply and think strategically about how to attract, develop, and retain technical talent in a scaleup environment.

This position suits someone with three to five years of HR business partner or HR advisor experience who combines strong stakeholder management with a data-driven mindset. You'll need to balance coaching and people development with project management rigor, handling everything from compensation documentation to talent calibration. Fluency in English is essential; Dutch is a bonus. The role is full-time and based in Amsterdam North, in-office.

Picnic offers standard benefits including 25 holidays, a pension plan, and travel coverage, plus perks like fresh daily lunches, a health insurance discount, and subsidized bike leasing through its partnership with Lease a Bike. There's also access to mental health support and learning resources through OpenUp.
