About this role

Okta's Solutions Engineering team sits at the intersection of sales and technical expertise, and this Chicago-based role focuses on helping enterprise customers understand how Auth0 fits into their identity and access management strategy. You'd work closely with sales teams to diagnose customer challenges, deliver product demonstrations tailored to specific needs, and occasionally build proof-of-concepts for complex implementations. The position also involves staying current on competitive positioning, contributing product feedback to engineering teams, and representing Okta at industry events.

The role demands someone with at least five years of pre-sales engineering experience in IAM, with solid hands-on knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and practical development skills across web, mobile, or backend platforms. You'll need to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to audiences ranging from developers to executives, manage a territory in collaboration with sales, and be comfortable with roughly 25% travel. A bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science is preferred, and familiarity with Auth0 or fine-grained authorization models is a plus but not required.

This is an in-office position in Chicago with an on-target compensation range of $152,000 to $228,000, plus equity and standard benefits. The work suits someone who enjoys both the technical depth of identity platforms and the business acumen required to guide customers through digital transformation.
