You will collaborate closely with developers, platform engineers, and DevOps/TechOps teams to streamline game production workflows, deploy standardized build configurations across multiple studios, and implement robust observability solutions. By balancing day-to-day operational support with long-term infrastructure improvements, you will create reusable automation, maintain technical documentation, and help drive continuous integration best practices across our entire development ecosystem.

-
Familiarity with configuration management tools (such as Puppet) for maintaining existing build machines and services.
-
Solid OS troubleshooting skills across both Windows and Linux environments.
-
Strong problem-solving ability to isolate and resolve build pipeline failures quickly.

About this role
2K is looking for a Build Systems Engineer to own the infrastructure that powers game development across its studios. You'd be responsible for migrating production build pipelines from on-premise systems to the cloud while maintaining the reliability and performance that large-scale game teams depend on daily. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, DevOps, and game development operations—you'll work with both Unreal Engine's Horde and Jenkins, standardizing configurations across multiple studios while supporting the unique needs of different game teams.
The day-to-day involves hands-on troubleshooting and optimization of build systems, automation scripting, and close collaboration with developers, platform engineers, and DevOps teams. You'll design and implement CI/CD improvements, manage cloud infrastructure as code, and create documentation that helps teams adopt better build practices. A significant part of the role is the cloud migration project itself—ensuring that the move to AWS, Azure, or GCP actually delivers measurable improvements in uptime and performance compared to legacy systems.
This position requires solid production-level build system experience, proven success migrating pipelines to cloud platforms, and strong scripting skills in Python or C#. You'll need OS troubleshooting expertise across Windows and Linux, familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, and the ability to work effectively across multiple technical teams. The role is based in Austin and requires in-office work.
