About this role
Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Staff Analog/Mixed Signal Engineer to design high-performance PLL and clocking subsystems for RF transceivers, SerDes, and high-speed I/O applications in advanced CMOS technologies. The role centers on hands-on circuit design work—developing frequency synthesizers, VCOs, charge pumps, phase detectors, and related analog components—paired with system modeling, design verification, and production support. You'll collaborate closely with digital and software teams to translate system requirements into working silicon.
This position requires substantial depth in PLL design and deep submicron CMOS fundamentals. You should bring 10+ years of experience at the bachelor's level (or 8+ with a master's, or 5+ with a PhD), with proven expertise in designing the full spectrum of frequency synthesis and clock generation circuits. Proficiency with Spectre, SpectreRF, and AMS simulation tools is essential, along with layout skills, Verilog familiarity, and hands-on lab testing experience. Strong system-level thinking—the ability to translate PLL loop behavior into circuit specifications—and solid communication skills round out the profile.
The role is full-time, in-office in San Jose, with a salary range of $163,000 to $253,000. Samsung offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) coverage, plus 4+ weeks of paid time off annually, family support stipends, and mental wellness resources.
