About this role

Trilon Group is seeking a Transportation Engineering Manager to lead and grow their transportation practice in New Mexico. This role combines hands-on project delivery with team leadership and business development. You'll manage a multidisciplinary team of design engineers working on major infrastructure projects—freeways, interstates, interchanges, and roadways—while maintaining responsibility for project quality, budget, and schedule. Beyond managing headcount, the position emphasizes developing people and identifying future leaders, giving you real autonomy to shape how the team operates and grows.

The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of professional experience in transportation engineering, a P.E. license, and a strong track record in project management and client-facing roles. Experience with roadway, traffic, and drainage design is important, as is familiarity with software like Bentley OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D. Knowledge of DOT and municipal standards, particularly in New Mexico, is valued. You'll need strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to balance technical quality with business realities.

The position offers a salary of $170,000–$190,000 with a notably flexible comp time policy—hours over 40 per week can be paid out or converted to PTO. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, generous paid time off, a 401(k) with 50% match up to 6%, professional development support, and paid professional memberships. This is an in-office role in Albuquerque.
