About this role
DLR Group's Lighting Design team is seeking interns to join their Cleveland, Denver, or Las Vegas studios for a full-time, paid summer program running May 18 through August 6, 2027. You'll work within an integrated design firm where lighting design intersects with architecture, engineering, and interiors, contributing to real projects from concept through construction. The role involves hands-on work with BIM workflows, 2D and 3D modeling in Revit, lighting calculations, site visits, and collaborative design discussions—giving you direct exposure to how lighting systems are developed for buildings of varying complexity.
The internship is structured around three core components: mentorship from practicing professionals, meaningful project work, and weekly learning sessions covering design culture, sustainability, technology, and career development. You'll participate in design meetings, business development efforts, and broader office activities that build your understanding of the AEC industry. This is ideal if you're at least a third-year student in Lighting Design, Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with strong communication and organizational skills and a genuine interest in learning the design process. Prior experience with Revit or lighting calculation software is a plus but not required.
The position offers $20–$26 per hour depending on location, experience, and skills, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off. DLR Group operates on a hybrid model with a four-day in-office expectation, though this internship requires in-person participation at your chosen studio location.
