About this role

CFD Research is seeking a Process Piping Engineer to support the design and development of advanced high-speed and hypersonic testing technologies. You would work on process piping and mechanical design projects spanning from concept through construction, primarily based in Hollywood, Alabama with occasional travel to Huntsville. The role demands hands-on expertise in high-pressure and high-temperature piping systems, including component selection, fluid system architecture, and fabrication methods. You'll need to generate and interpret structural, thermal, and fluid simulation results to evaluate design tradeoffs, create SolidWorks drawings for fabrication and installation, and interact regularly with government customers and internal stakeholders.

This position requires at least five years of relevant engineering experience and a degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical, or a related field. You should have demonstrated knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components, familiarity with ASME standards and piping design codes, and a practical understanding of fabrication and installation methods including welding and fastening. Experience with CAE tools like ABAQUS or ANSYS is valuable. Because the work involves government contracts, you must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; holding a Secret Clearance already is a plus.

The role is part-time and in-office. CFD Research, an employee-owned company established in 1987, offers part-time employee-owners partial or reduced benefits depending on employment status, including access to a 401(k) match and ESOP participation, along with performance-based bonuses and twice-yearly appraisals.
