About this role
With 7–9 years of drainage engineering experience, you'd be stepping into a role where you're expected to lead technical design work on stormwater and flood mitigation projects while also mentoring junior staff. At Horrocks, you'll manage projects from concept through construction, handling hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, regulatory coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration across public and private sector work. The position requires a PE license (or active progress toward one) and hands-on proficiency with software like HEC-RAS, Civil 3D, and InfoDrainage.
The day-to-day involves preparing drainage reports and technical calculations, reviewing contractor submittals, presenting findings to clients and municipalities, and troubleshooting design challenges as they arise. You'll be expected to work independently on assigned project components while also contributing to proposal development and internal process improvements. This is an in-office role in Idaho Falls, with a salary range of $105,000–$125,000 and benefits including medical and dental coverage, 401(k) matching, paid professional development, and generous PTO.
This role suits someone who is comfortable balancing technical depth with leadership responsibility—someone ready to move beyond individual contributor work but still hands-on with design and modeling. If you have the required licensure and software experience and want to grow into a mentor role while staying engaged in project delivery, it's worth considering.
