About this role
Trilon Group is looking for a mid-level traffic engineer to lead design work on signals, lighting, and intelligent transportation systems across projects primarily based in Utah, with potential involvement in larger western region initiatives. You'd work alongside senior engineers and project managers to develop traffic signal timing plans, roadway lighting designs, and ITS solutions that meet MUTCD, FHWA, and state DOT standards. The role expects you to independently manage core design tasks, coordinate with clients and agencies, and contribute to technical presentations and quality reviews.
This position suits an engineer with at least four years of traffic or transportation experience, a PE license (or near-term ability to obtain one), and hands-on proficiency in design software like OpenRoads, Civil 3D, or Agi32. Familiarity with traffic modeling tools such as Synchro or VISSIM is valued. You'll need strong communication skills to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
The role offers a salary range of $90,000–$125,000, a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, and a distinctive comp time policy that lets you convert overtime hours into additional pay or PTO. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, solid paid time off, a 401(k) match up to 6%, professional development support, and paid memberships. The hybrid arrangement is based in Riverdale, Utah.
