About this role
Trilon Group (operating as Horrocks) is looking for a mid-level traffic engineer to lead design work on signals, lighting, and intelligent transportation systems across projects primarily in Utah and the western region. You'd take ownership of core design tasks—from signal timing and interconnect layouts to photometric calculations and ITS coordination—while working alongside senior engineers and project teams. The role expects you to work independently on primary design elements, manage client and agency interactions, and apply standards like MUTCD and AASHTO throughout project delivery.
The position suits engineers with at least four years of traffic or transportation experience and a PE license (or clear path to one). You'll need hands-on proficiency with design software like OpenRoads, Civil 3D, or Agi32, and familiarity with traffic modeling tools such as Synchro or VISSIM is valued. Strong communication and the ability to juggle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines are essential, as is a solid grasp of DOT standards and design criteria.
Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $125,000, with a sign-on bonus available for qualified candidates. The hybrid arrangement is based in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Horrocks offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous PTO, a 401(k) match up to 6%, paid professional memberships, and an uncommon comp time policy that lets you convert overtime hours to additional pay or PTO.
