About this role
Whelen Engineering is hiring a Warehouse Associate for second shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM, Monday–Friday) at their Chester, Connecticut facility. This is an entry-level role that requires no prior warehouse experience. You'll handle the full range of warehousing operations: receiving and storing parts from various sources, using RF scanners to pull products, packing items with proper materials, and transporting kits to assembly areas. The work involves operating equipment like WAVE and JLG lifts (which can lift you up to 20 feet), electrical jacks, and potentially forklifts, along with scales and calculators to verify counts.
The job is physically demanding. You'll stand for the entire shift, walk 4–5 miles across the warehouse floor regularly, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions like picking, bending, reaching, and stepping on and off lifts. You'll need good close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. Work is closely supervised with little autonomy; you'll resolve routine issues and escalate complex ones. The role requires basic computer literacy, effective communication in English, and a commitment to safety practices.
The position pays $18–$22 per hour based on your qualifications and relevant experience. This is a full-time, in-office role suited to someone physically capable of warehouse work who's comfortable with a structured, supervised environment and a consistent second-shift schedule.
