About this role
Leading a production team on Whelen Engineering's second shift in Chester, Connecticut, this role combines hands-on assembly work with team coordination responsibilities. You'll perform complex assembly operations while orienting, training, and directing other employees—stepping in for supervisors when needed and helping drive performance improvements. The position requires someone who can work independently under minimal oversight, troubleshoot problems, and keep operations moving smoothly under pressure.
To succeed here, you'll need either a high school diploma plus six years of relevant experience, or a technical degree with three to six years in the field. J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 certifications are required. The work is hands-on and physically demanding: you'll be standing throughout your shift, lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, and performing precise assembly tasks that require strong color vision, manual dexterity, and the ability to read technical drawings and specifications. Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate a team are essential.
The salary range is $18–$25 per hour, with your starting point within that range determined by your experience level. This is a full-time, in-office position on the second shift only.
