About this role
Riverbend Veterinary PetCare Hospital is looking for a receptionist to manage the front desk during urgent care hours—Monday and Wednesday evenings (3–10 PM) and Saturday daytime (10 AM–8 PM). You'll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, handling check-ins, a multi-line phone system, payment processing, and medical record updates using practice management software. The role requires balancing efficiency with genuine compassion, particularly when clients are navigating emotionally difficult conversations like end-of-life care decisions.
This position demands at least one year of veterinary reception experience and familiarity with practice management systems like Cornerstone or Avimark. You'll need solid knowledge of veterinary terminology, vaccination protocols, and appointment scheduling, along with the composure to manage high-volume interactions and handle animals of all temperaments. Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential, as you'll relay clinical information accurately and help resolve conflicts with professionalism.
The salary ranges from $19 to $21 per hour based on your background. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan, and professional development support. If you're comfortable with an urgent care schedule and thrive in a fast-paced veterinary environment, this role offers a clear fit at an established practice serving the Charlotte area.
