About this role
Shawnee Animal Hospital is looking for a veterinary receptionist to manage front desk operations, phone systems, client check-ins, and payment processing in a mixed-animal practice serving Shawnee. The role requires at least one year of front desk or customer service experience—ideally from medical, dental, or veterinary settings, though the practice welcomes candidates from urgent care or high-volume hospitality backgrounds. You'll need solid skills with scheduling systems, multi-line phones, data entry, and POS software, along with the composure to support clients during emotionally difficult moments regarding their pets' health.
This is a part-time position offering 20 to 30 hours per week across 2–3 full days and rotating Saturdays, at $13.00–$14.00 per hour depending on your background. The practice provides structured onboarding and training in veterinary workflows, terminology, and their practice management system, so veterinary-specific knowledge isn't required going in. You'll work as part of a clinical team in a setting that balances quality care with affordability and serves a range of animals from companion pets to livestock.
The role suits someone with proven customer service and organizational abilities who genuinely enjoys working with animals and can stay organized and professional in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience with veterinary software or medical terminology is a plus but not essential.
