About this role
Michels Construction, Inc. is looking for someone to bridge estimating and project management on heavy civil infrastructure work—highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, and railways across North America. You'd own the full lifecycle from pre-construction estimates through project delivery, managing budgets and schedules while maintaining client relationships and ensuring safe, cost-effective execution. The role demands accuracy under pressure, independent judgment, and comfort with both spreadsheets and jobsites.
This position suits someone with at least five years in heavy civil estimating who knows earthwork, utilities, roadway, or concrete work and can use estimating software like HCSS or B2W. You'll need a bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent, proficiency in Microsoft Office, negotiation skills, and willingness to travel for site visits and pre-bid meetings. Michels is family-owned, invests significantly in employee training, and offers standard benefits including health coverage, 401(k), and disability insurance.
The company emphasizes a fast-paced, collaborative environment where results matter and hard work is recognized. If you're self-motivated, detail-oriented, and energized by seeing infrastructure projects through from concept to completion, this role offers real variety and the chance to work on projects that improve how people move.
