About this role

Diligent Robotics is building AI-powered service robots for healthcare environments, and this part-time Field Service Technician role puts you at the center of keeping their robotic fleet operational in real clinical settings. You'll handle preventative maintenance and troubleshoot complex issues that arise in the field, working directly with onsite teams and engineering staff to minimize downtime and maximize performance. The work demands both technical depth—you'll need to read schematics, work with electrical and mechanical tools, and diagnose problems others can't—and the willingness to travel on short notice to support urgent repairs across the region.

The position is structured around weekend coverage (Friday 4pm–9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am–5pm) at $25/hour, with travel expectations up to 80% for site visits and escalated repairs. You'll need at least three years of hands-on experience with commercial products, comfort troubleshooting robotics systems, and the ability to work independently and execute quality work without supervision. Vendor credentialing with hospital partners will be required, and you must be local to Chicago with authorization to work in the US.

This role suits someone with solid technical troubleshooting skills and field service experience who's energized by working on cutting-edge robotics in a healthcare context, and who can handle the travel demands and short-notice scheduling that come with supporting a live fleet.
