About this role
InnoPhase IoT is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design of wireless physical and MAC layer systems from the ground up. You'll own the full signal chain—from channel modeling and RF behavior through protocol design and signal processing—while developing simulation frameworks, digital signal processing engines, and RTL implementations in SystemVerilog. The role bridges multiple disciplines: you'll work with verification teams on test coverage, collaborate with physical design on floor planning and timing closure, and identify architectural bottlenecks to optimize for size, power, and performance targets.
This position requires a Master's in Electrical Engineering plus ten years of hands-on experience in ASIC and FPGA design, with demonstrated expertise in WiFi or cellular physical layers, RTL design, DSP theory, and industry-standard tools like VCS and Verdi. You should be comfortable across the full front-end flow—lint, CDC, synthesis, timing closure, and ECO development. The role is based in San Jose and involves up to 15% domestic travel, with a salary range of $216,091 to $220,000 annually.
