About this role
F. Schumacher & Co. is looking for a Merchandising Manager to drive the buying and assortment strategy for its growing network of Design Shops across the U.S. You'd own the full cycle—from demand forecasting and purchase orders to inventory management and vendor negotiations—while analyzing sales data to keep stock levels optimized and aligned with seasonal launches. This is a role that demands both analytical rigor and creative instinct, as you'll also partner closely with Visual Merchandising and Branding teams on store layouts, in-store storytelling, and new location launches.
The position sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. Beyond core buying responsibilities, you'll maintain the Design Shop website, coordinate pop-ups and special activations with Marketing, and develop merchandising guidelines to ensure consistency across locations. You'll need 3–5 years of merchandising or buying experience (preferably in home or lifestyle), hands-on familiarity with ERP and inventory systems, and comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and visual merchandising experience are important, as is genuine interest in interior design or luxury retail.
Based in New York City at the SoHo corporate office, this is a full-time in-office role with a minimum of three days per week on-site, plus occasional travel to Design Shop locations. The salary range is $60,000–$85,000, with benefits including 20 days PTO, 10 company holidays, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k) with profit sharing, and an employee discount.
