About this role

Emerson Electric's Marshalltown facility is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 3rd shift (midnight to 8 a.m.) to lead the Large Value Stream Assembly Team in manufacturing custom control valves. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll own safety culture, daily work planning, team development, and operational performance across a production environment. You'll manage inventory accuracy, oversee assembly documentation and testing protocols, and drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like 5S+1, TPM, and Kaizen. The role requires balancing strategic planning with direct action—communicating effectively across all levels, identifying root causes of issues, and translating process improvements into measurable results.

To succeed, you need at least three years of proven leadership experience combined with two to three years of hands-on manufacturing background. You should be disciplined, assertive, and energetic, with strong communication skills and solid proficiency in MS Office. A high school diploma is the minimum requirement, though an Associate's or Bachelor's degree paired with five years of leadership experience in manufacturing would strengthen your candidacy. If you have familiarity with nuclear codes, commercial grade dedication, or oxygen cleanliness and cryogenic assembly standards, that's a significant advantage for this position.

Emerson emphasizes career development, mentorship, and an inclusive workplace culture. The company offers competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, flexible time off including paid parental leave, and employee resource groups. This role is full-time, in-office, and requires legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
