About this role
Ascension's palliative care team in Indianapolis is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join an established, physician-led group focused on inpatient symptom management and goals-of-care conversations. You would manage five to eight patients daily across a large tertiary medical center, conducting consultations and coordinating care for people with serious illnesses across oncology, trauma, cardiovascular, and stroke services. The role emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration—working alongside physicians, social workers, and community providers to plan discharges and ensure continuity into hospice or primary care settings.
Call responsibilities are minimal: roughly one evening per week and one weekend per month, with low page volumes. You'll work within Ascension's nonprofit Catholic health system, which offers practice stability through national scale while maintaining local autonomy. The position requires Indiana RN licensure before hire, plus BLS certification and NP prescriptive authority credentialing within your first months. A Master's degree in Nursing and board certification or eligibility as an NP are required.
This role suits an NP drawn to serious illness care, comfortable with complex symptom management and psychosocial support, and seeking a collaborative inpatient setting with manageable on-call demands.
