About this role

Ascension's pediatric general surgery program in Indianapolis is seeking a fellowship-trained surgeon to join an established three-physician team at a 197-bed children's hospital serving a two-million-person region. You would manage a broad surgical scope—general, thoracic, ECMO, and trauma cases—in a balanced inpatient and outpatient practice at a single location. The facility holds Level One Children's Surgery Verification and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center status, supported by integrated referral networks across Ascension's 22 ministries.

The role emphasizes collaboration and teaching. You'll supervise general surgery residents and medical students, mentor new graduate surgeons, and actively shape the program's growth. Call structure is home-based (every three to four weeks), with 24/7 APP trauma support and seasoned pediatric surgical assistance available after hours. The practice benefits from strong clinic nursing support and an integrated EMR system.

This is an employed position within a nonprofit Catholic health system. You must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric General Surgery, eligible for Indiana medical licensure and DEA registration, and hold an MD or DO. Ascension emphasizes physician-led culture, long-term stability, and mission-centered care.
