About this role
Ascension is launching a brand-new OB hospitalist service line in Austin and seeking physicians to help establish its foundational culture and workflows from the ground up. This is an inpatient-only role serving a large regional population across multiple facilities with varying acuity levels, supported by an on-site NICU staffed with Dell Children's neonatologists. You would provide round-the-clock continuity of care for complex and high-acuity obstetric cases while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and evidence-based practice.
The position offers genuine scheduling flexibility—choose between full-time (120 hours per month), part-time (60 hours per month), or PRN arrangements with 12-hour or 24-hour shift options to suit your preferences. You'll work as an employed physician within a nonprofit Catholic health system that emphasizes physician-led collaboration, long-term stability, and mission-centered care. Prior OB hospitalist or high-acuity obstetrics experience is preferred but not required; you must be board certified or board eligible by ABOG, hold a current Texas medical license (or demonstrate eligibility), and have DEA registration by your start date.
