About this role

Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis is recruiting an Internal Medicine Hospitalist for its flagship 800-bed Level 1 trauma center, offering exposure to high-acuity patients across specialized units including the burn center and the newly opened brain and spine hospital. You would manage a daily census of 15–16 patients on medical floors supported by a closed ICU model with dedicated intensivists, allowing you to focus on quality care without the competing demands of ICU coverage. The role sits within a large, collaborative physician network of over 80 providers organized into 22–23 daily teams, creating a supportive environment for both learning and peer consultation.

The position is structured around work-life balance through a 7-on/7-off schedule designed to provide two 2–3 week breaks annually. A dedicated admissions team handles intake, and while procedures are optional, you have the opportunity to maintain or develop procedural skills in a supportive setting. The contract is AMG-employed and qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, adding long-term stability. You'll work within Ascension's academic medical center culture, engaging with multiple residency and fellowship programs.

The role requires MD/DO board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine, Indiana medical licensure prior to hire, and Advanced Life Support certification. Previous hospitalist experience is valued but not required; the organization explicitly welcomes new graduates entering a high-volume academic setting. Internal Medicine training is strongly preferred, though rare exceptions are made for Family Medicine candidates.
