About this role

Ascension's Behavioral Health Security Officer role in Wichita combines active facility protection with crisis leadership in a healthcare setting. You'd conduct regular patrols to identify risks early, respond rapidly to security incidents and alarms, and serve as a steady presence for staff and visitors during emergencies. Beyond immediate security work, you'd also train hospital personnel on emergency procedures and safety standards, helping build a prepared workforce across the facility.

The position requires a valid driver's license and ideally some combination of certifications like BLS, law enforcement background, or formal security credentials. Most importantly, you should have one to three years of professional experience in security or behavioral health, preferably in a healthcare or high-traffic environment where you've managed both routine safety and crisis situations. A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education requirement, though relevant certifications can substitute for formal education or experience.

This is a full-time, in-office role within Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system known for supporting its associates and recognized as a military-friendly employer. The work demands someone comfortable with both preventive security measures and the interpersonal skills needed to de-escalate tense situations and mentor staff.
