About this role
Ascension's cardiovascular surgery team in Milwaukee is seeking an NP or PA to join a well-established, collaborative practice serving a large regional population. You'd work alongside two cardiothoracic surgeons and a vascular surgeon, supported by five other advanced practice providers. The role spans the full surgical continuum: first assisting in the OR, managing inpatient rounds at Columbia St. Mary's Milwaukee, and running dedicated outpatient clinic panels including post-operative follow-up. You'll have access to advanced surgical facilities, specialized electrophysiology services, and a robust structural heart network.
The call schedule is shared equitably across the APP team, with weekends rotating roughly one in four to five (Friday through Sunday coverage) and weekday call distributed fairly. This is an employed position within a nonprofit health system, offering long-term stability and a provider-led, mission-centered culture. You'll independently perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostics, develop treatment plans, and provide patient education and preventative care counseling under physician supervision.
To qualify, you'll need Wisconsin PA licensure before your start date, BLS certification within 30 days of hire, and at least one year of clinical experience. Cardiovascular and vein harvesting experience is required; Advanced Life Support certification and prior orthopedic PA background are preferred. A master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
