About this role
Ascension's Pulmonary and Critical Care practice in Wichita is actively expanding, creating an opportunity to join an established team of five pulmonologists and intensivists supported by five advanced practice providers. You would practice in a 429-bed tertiary care hospital and Level I Trauma Center with a strong regional referral network, splitting your time between inpatient critical care and outpatient pulmonary medicine. The role offers genuine involvement in the program's continued growth rather than a static position.
This is an employed position within a national nonprofit health system, which means long-term stability and access to integrated resources across Ascension's network. You would collaborate regularly with experienced APPs, nursing, respiratory therapy, and other specialists, with opportunities for academic involvement and clinical teaching through partnerships with the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita. The call structure is 1:5, and you would manage complex pulmonary and critical care conditions while participating in relevant procedures and diagnostic services.
To qualify, you need board certification or eligibility in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine, an MD or DO with fellowship training in both disciplines, and Kansas medical licensure prior to your hire date. This role suits physicians seeking a collegial environment with clear expansion potential in a well-resourced health system serving approximately 400,000 residents in the Wichita area.
