About this role
Ascension's Critical Care Transport team in Indianapolis is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to manage acute patient stabilization during transfers between facilities and within the hospital system. You'll assess and medicate critically ill patients, monitor their condition throughout transport, and ensure safe handoffs with receiving teams. The role also requires maintaining transport equipment, adhering to air medical protocols, and educating colleagues on safe transport practices.
This position demands substantial experience in high-acuity settings—a minimum of three years in Level III/IV NICU or PICU work, with five years preferred. You'll need your RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care before starting, along with BLS certification within your first month. Ascension expects you to obtain Advanced Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support within six months, and neonatal-focused certifications (NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E) within your first year. A valid driver's license is required from day one.
The role suits an experienced respiratory therapist ready to work in a fast-paced transport environment and willing to pursue additional neonatal and pediatric transport specializations. Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system, emphasizes inclusive culture and professional growth.
