About this role

Ascension's ICU Float position in Milwaukee offers experienced nurses the chance to deliver critical care across four specialized units—Cardiac, Burn, Medical-Surgical, and Neuro—within a tertiary care campus. You'll work with complex, high-acuity patients, interpreting hemodynamic data and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to adjust care plans and drive clinical outcomes. The role demands flexibility and clinical versatility; you'll rotate between departments based on patient volume and acuity, serving as a stabilizing expert in fast-paced environments where your ability to adapt directly impacts patient safety and outcomes.

This position suits nurses with solid ICU experience who thrive in variety and want to deepen expertise across multiple specialties. Beyond the four core ICUs, many team members also support interventional radiology, the catheterization lab, post-anesthesia care, and the emergency department, creating genuine opportunities to grow your skill set. You'll need a Wisconsin RN license (or current multi-state compact license) and BLS certification within 30 days of hire; PALS certification is preferred. A strong grasp of hemodynamics and comfort with the unpredictability of float nursing are essential.

Ascension is a large nonprofit Catholic health system recognized as one of the best places to work in healthcare and a military-friendly employer. The full-time, in-office role is embedded in a culture emphasizing service, growth, care, and connection across the organization's 99,000+ associates.
