About this role
Ascension's Childbirth Educator role in Nashville combines clinical nursing expertise with education program development and delivery. You would assess learning needs across labor and delivery services, design and implement childbirth education curricula, and evaluate outcomes using adult learning principles. The position extends beyond unit-level teaching to include hospital-wide and community education initiatives, requiring you to develop instructional materials, maintain records, and report on program effectiveness while collaborating closely with nurse managers and clinical staff.
This is a full-time, in-office position suited for a registered nurse with active Tennessee licensure (or multi-state compact recognition) and current BLS certification. You'll need documented labor and delivery experience and a Childbirth Labor Companion (CLC) credential. A background as a childbirth educator is preferred, though the role emphasizes your ability to apply adult education principles and measure learning outcomes systematically.
