About this role
Ascension's Labor and Delivery unit in Indianapolis seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct clinical care during deliveries, with responsibility for designing and adjusting patient care plans in real time. You'll monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, communicate condition changes promptly, and execute physician orders while maintaining focus on safety for both mother and baby throughout the birth experience and into discharge planning.
Beyond bedside care, you'll function as a coordinator for the multidisciplinary team—connecting physicians, specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive, holistic care. This role demands both clinical precision and empathy as you navigate the complexity and emotion of labor and delivery nursing.
To qualify, you must hold an Indiana RN license before your hire date and obtain BLS certification within 30 days of starting. While not required, certifications in neonatal resuscitation (AAP), Advanced Life Support, or the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program are preferred and would strengthen your candidacy for this position within a large nonprofit Catholic health system.
