About this role
At Ascension's Milwaukee Emergency Department, this role bridges clinical leadership and operational management during the unit's busiest hours. You'll lead a nursing team through the full spectrum of staff lifecycle activities—recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluation—while simultaneously identifying and removing obstacles to patient care. The position demands someone who can balance competing priorities: maintaining clinical standards and safety protocols, supporting both staff and physicians, and meeting budgetary targets without compromising the quality of care.
The ideal candidate holds a current Wisconsin RN license and at least one year of emergency nursing experience, with BLS certification obtained within the first month. You'll work primarily afternoon shifts to align with peak ED operations, though the schedule includes variable evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as needed. This is a full-time, in-office position within a large nonprofit Catholic health system known for supporting its workforce and emphasizing mission-driven care.
