About this role
Ascension's Baltimore location is seeking a Registered Nurse with lactation specialization to provide clinical expertise in maternal and infant feeding care. You would work directly with mothers and infants from birth through hospital discharge, combining hands-on patient education with evidence-based practice to help families achieve their individual feeding goals. Beyond direct care, you would mentor nursing staff and physicians, establishing yourself as the unit's lactation clinical expert while designing standardized teaching resources that ensure consistent quality across the department.
The role emphasizes both clinical leadership and continuous improvement. You would track feeding outcomes and use that data to refine care protocols, actively shaping how the unit approaches infant nutrition and family support. This is a full-time, in-office position within a large nonprofit Catholic health system known for supporting its workforce.
To qualify, you need an active RN license from the Maryland Board of Nursing before your hire date. While BLS certification is preferred, the role particularly values lactation credentials from IBLCE and neonatal resuscitation certification from AAP, along with S.T.A.B.L.E Program training. If you hold these specializations and want to combine direct patient care with mentorship and protocol development in a maternal-infant health setting, this role offers that scope.
