About this role
Ascension's renal dialysis nursing role in Nashville centers on specialized peritoneal dialysis management and acute post-operative care for patients with kidney disease. You would perform manual and automated PD exchanges using strict sterile protocols, monitor catheter sites to prevent infection, and conduct detailed clinical assessments to catch complications early. The position also involves executing nephrology care plans, administering medications, managing surgical wounds and pain, and tracking fluid and electrolyte changes—work that directly impacts patient outcomes and recovery trajectories.
Beyond direct clinical care, you'd coordinate with nephrologists, surgeons, dietitians, and discharge planners to ensure patients transition safely home and receive ongoing support for long-term renal health. Patient and caregiver education is central to the role; you'd teach PD home routines, medication management, and post-surgical recovery protocols to build patient independence and confidence in self-care.
To qualify, you need an active RN license from the Tennessee Board of Nursing before your hire date and BLS certification within your first month. A nursing diploma or degree from an accredited program is required. This is a full-time, in-office position within Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system.
