About this role
Ascension's cardiac critical care unit in Indianapolis seeks a registered nurse to deliver high-acuity care to patients with complex cardiac conditions—from acute heart attacks and advanced heart failure to post-transplant recovery. You'll manage sophisticated life support technologies including ECMO, ventricular assist devices, and ventilators while continuously interpreting hemodynamic data and cardiac rhythms to guide individualized care plans. The role demands clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.
Beyond direct patient care, you'll coordinate across multiple specialties to ensure seamless transitions from intensive care through discharge planning, working with families and the broader care team to support safe recovery. This is a full-time, in-office position within a large nonprofit Catholic health system. You'll need an active Indiana RN license and BLS certification (required within 30 days of hire), with Advanced Life Support preferred. At least one year of critical care nursing experience is preferred, though the role is open to newly licensed nurses who meet the core licensure requirements.
