About this role
Ascension's pediatric OR nursing role in Austin combines circulating and scrub nurse responsibilities in a fast-paced surgical environment focused on children. You'll manage patient care across the full surgical journey—preoperative assessment, intraoperative monitoring and documentation, and postoperative support—while maintaining sterile technique and collaborating closely with surgeons and the broader surgical team. The position demands strong clinical judgment, precise documentation in the EHR, and the ability to anticipate needs in a complex, time-sensitive setting.
The role requires a Texas-licensed RN with current BLS certification and ALS certification obtained within six months of hire. While one or more years of pediatric OR experience is preferred, it's not mandatory, making this suitable for nurses transitioning into pediatric surgical nursing. The schedule is fixed at 36 hours per week, Friday through Sunday, 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.—a consistent overnight weekend commitment that suits those seeking predictable scheduling.
