About this role
Ascension's Nurse Residency program in Nashville is a structured entry point into acute care nursing, designed specifically for newly licensed RNs or those with fewer than six months of hospital experience. The program begins March 15, 2027, and accepts applications for the spring cohort from candidates expected to graduate by January 2027. You'll work full-time in an in-office setting, taking on core nursing responsibilities including patient assessments, care coordination across multidisciplinary teams, patient advocacy, and discharge planning.
The role emphasizes clinical fundamentals and patient-centered care: performing comprehensive physical assessments, monitoring for clinical changes, communicating clearly with patients and families about their treatment, and supporting the full patient journey from admission through recovery. You'll need an active RN license from the Tennessee Board of Nursing (or a compact state license) before your hire date, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days of starting. This residency is part of Ascension's larger health system culture, which positions itself as a nonprofit Catholic organization focused on service and growth, with recognition as a top healthcare employer.
