About this role

Ascension's operating room nursing role in Milwaukee combines direct surgical assistance with perioperative patient management in an acute care hospital setting. You'll work as both scrub nurse and circulator, handling instruments and supplies during procedures while monitoring vital signs, communicating patient status, and supporting physicians with tasks like hemostasis, suturing, and wound exposure. The position demands strong sterile technique, knowledge of aseptic practice, and the ability to think critically under pressure while coordinating with surgical teams.

To qualify, you'll need an active Wisconsin nursing license (or current multi-state compact license) obtained before your hire date, plus BLS certification within your first month and Advanced Life Support within six months. While the role doesn't strictly require prior OR experience, Ascension prefers candidates with at least one year in an acute care operating room setting. You should demonstrate solid communication and teamwork skills alongside the technical competencies the role demands.
