About this role

Ascension's cardiovascular operating room in Austin is seeking a certified surgical tech to manage the specialized demands of open-heart and vascular surgery. You'll be responsible for preparing and maintaining sterile fields with precision instrumentation, anticipating surgeon needs during complex procedures, and ensuring flawless instrument and sponge counts throughout every case. The role requires expert positioning and draping skills specific to cardiac access sites, plus the ability to assist with critical interventions like hemostasis and vessel retraction while maintaining patient safety under high-acuity conditions.

This position requires current BLS certification and either NCCT or NBSTSA surgical tech credentials obtained before your hire date. You'll need a high school diploma plus two years of relevant experience, an associate's degree, or four years of applicable job experience. The role runs Monday through Friday, 11am to 11pm, for 36 hours per week with on-call responsibilities. Prior CVOR experience of two or more years is preferred and would be valuable given the specialized nature of cardiovascular cases.
