About this role
Ascension's Pediatric Cardiac ICU in Indianapolis seeks a registered nurse to provide critical care for children recovering from open heart surgery and managing complex congenital heart conditions. You'll perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring, manage advanced life support technologies including ECMO and ventricular assist devices, and handle post-operative care involving ventilators, pacemakers, and invasive lines. This is highly specialized nursing that demands both technical precision and the ability to work closely with cardiologists and surgeons in a family-centered care model.
The role requires an Indiana RN license before your start date and BLS certification within your first month. While a bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred, a diploma from an accredited nursing program meets the education requirement. The position strongly prefers candidates with at least one year of pediatric open heart experience, reflecting the specialized nature of the work. This is a full-time, in-office position within Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system recognized for workplace culture and support.
