About this role
Ascension's high-risk obstetric nursing role in Indianapolis demands expertise in managing critically ill pregnant and postpartum patients. You'll deliver advanced hemodynamic monitoring, manage complex medication drips, and interpret fetal monitoring data while working alongside physicians and specialists to prioritize both maternal safety and patient preferences. The position requires you to think beyond the acute crisis—coordinating care transitions, planning complex discharges, and supporting families through recovery and post-emergency follow-up.
This is a full-time, in-office position suited for a registered nurse with strong critical care fundamentals and the ability to stay composed during obstetric emergencies. You'll need current Indiana RN licensure before your start date and BLS certification within your first month; Advanced Life Support certification is preferred. A nursing diploma or degree from an accredited program is required. If you're drawn to high-acuity OB nursing and want to work within a large nonprofit Catholic health system known for supporting its workforce, this role offers the clinical complexity and interdisciplinary collaboration that defines specialized maternal-fetal medicine.
