About this role

Ascension's Neuro Stepdown unit in Indianapolis is a 46-bed high-acuity setting where you'd care for three to four patients at a time, managing patients transitioning from the Trauma Neuro ICU and MICU as well as those coming directly from the ER. The patient population includes trauma injuries, post-craniotomy, and spinal surgery cases—a range of complex neurological conditions requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing judgment.

Beyond direct patient care, you'd serve as a clinical liaison, helping translate intricate medical plans into language patients and families can understand. The role emphasizes teamwork, including participation in rapid response situations. You'll need an Indiana RN license before your start date and BLS certification within your first month. Prior hospital experience is preferred but not required, and you must hold a nursing diploma or equivalent credential at hire.

Ascension is a large nonprofit Catholic health system with a stated focus on inclusive culture and professional growth. The organization is recognized as a Military-Friendly Gold Employer and ranks among the top healthcare workplaces.
