About this role
Ascension's Clinical Nurse Specialist role in Progressive Care at their Indianapolis location combines direct patient care with consultation, education, and research responsibilities. You would work as an advanced practice nurse supporting both clinical staff development and evidence-based practice improvements, while also managing educational programs for patients, families, and nursing teams. The position requires flexibility across shifts to meet teaching and support needs.
This role calls for a Master's degree in nursing and either a CNS credential from AACN or ANCC, or an RN credential from ANCC or Indiana Board of Nursing (with CNS certification required within your first year if you enter with an RN credential). You'll need three to five years of progressive care nursing experience, plus demonstrated teaching and leadership capabilities. BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
The position suits experienced RNs ready to step into a specialist role that blends clinical expertise with mentorship and program development. If you're drawn to shaping practice standards, supporting colleagues' growth, and contributing to research initiatives within a large nonprofit health system, this could align with your career trajectory.
