About this role

Ascension's cardiovascular operating room in Austin is seeking a certified surgical tech to manage the complex demands of open-heart and vascular surgery. You'd be responsible for preparing and maintaining sterile fields with specialized instrumentation, anticipating surgeon needs during high-acuity cases, and ensuring flawless instrument and supply tracking to prevent retained items. The role requires direct hands-on support during critical interventions—assisting with hemostasis, vessel retraction, and positioning—where your timing and expertise directly impact both surgical flow and patient safety.

You'll need current BLS certification and either NCCT or NBSTSA surgical tech credentials before your start date. The position requires a high school diploma plus two years of relevant experience, an associate degree, or four years of applicable job experience. While two or more years of CVOR-specific experience is preferred, the role is open to credentialed surgical techs meeting the baseline qualifications. A weekend option is available working Friday through Sunday, 7am to 7pm, with on-call responsibilities.
