About this role
Ascension's orthopedic spine surgical tech role in Austin demands precision and technical expertise in one of surgery's most specialized environments. You'll prepare and manage complex instrumentation, implants, and sterile setups specific to spine procedures, then work alongside surgeons to position patients safely on specialized frames and maintain meticulous counts and aseptic technique throughout extended cases. This is high-acuity work requiring you to handle delicate hardware, biologics, and medications while protecting open bone and deep tissue from contamination.
The position requires either NCCT certification before hire or NBSTSA certification within six months, plus BLS certification within 30 days. You'll need a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience, an associate's degree, or four years of surgical tech experience. Preference goes to candidates with three or more years specifically in orthopedic spine surgery, where familiarity with complex instrumentation systems is a significant asset.
You'll work Monday through Friday day shifts with on-call rotation at Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system. This role suits someone who thrives in technically demanding, fast-paced surgical environments and wants to deepen expertise in a specialized surgical field.
