Description
- Execute scrub functions, including selection and sterile handling of instrumentation and supplies.
- Execute circulator functions, including monitoring, documentation, and real-time communication.
- Partner with surgeons to facilitate hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and optimal patient positioning.
- Oversee the preparation and sterilizations of rooms, surgical instruments, and high-tech equipment.
Qualifications
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Maryland Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
One or more of the following required:
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
Additional Preferences:
- Hospital OR experience required

About this role
Ascension's operating room in Baltimore is seeking a Registered Nurse to work as both scrub and circulator, depending on surgical needs. You'll manage sterile instrumentation and supplies, monitor patient status and document procedures, communicate with the surgical team in real time, and support surgeons with positioning, hemostasis, and wound management. The role also includes preparing and sterilizing OR rooms and high-tech equipment before procedures.
You'll need an active Maryland RN license before your start date, along with BLS certification (required within 30 days) and ALS certification (required within 6 months). Prior hospital OR experience is essential for this position.
