About this role

Leading an emergency department requires balancing operational excellence with direct staff oversight, and this role at Ascension's Indianapolis location combines both. You would manage unit compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, develop policies and procedures to support efficient patient care delivery, and maintain quality monitoring systems. Budget responsibility is central to the position—you'll monitor expenditures and ensure spending aligns with guidelines while also driving associate, patient, and physician satisfaction across the ED.

The role demands hands-on leadership experience as a registered nurse. You'll need at least three years of ED experience and one year of cumulative leadership experience in nursing, with BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Your day-to-day work includes hiring, training, directing, and evaluating staff, as well as identifying and resolving issues that affect care delivery. This is a full-time, in-office position suited to an RN ready to move from clinical practice into management within an acute care emergency setting.
